I know the cover is the typical young adult cover that is HORRIBLE and
looks like a teen made it but, you must trust me when i say it is an
AMAZING book. The only way I can describe this book is utterly beautiful
and
heartbreaking at the same time. Celaena is the best young adult heroine I
have read of by far. The story begins taking you to Endovier,
which is a salt mine that the highest criminals in Adarlan are taken to.
Celaena, also know as Adarlans Assassin, was captured and
had spent a year working the mines, put there by the king himself. But
the Crown Prince Dorian comes to bargin with her. The king has decided
to have a competition. With 23 members of his council, the king makes
them choose their "Champion" all of which are thieves, assassins, and
warriors. And the Kings son, decides to have Celaena, the greatest
assassin in the world, as his champion, only to defy his father. He
promises Celaena the one thing she has ever truely wanted, freedom. But
it comes with a price. Celaena must win the competition, defeating all
the champions in grueling tasks and tests, and if she wins, she must
serve as the kings "Champion" for 4 years, killing for him and doing his
bidding before she is released. If she doesnt win, she is sent back to
Endovier and a certain death. But while Celaena is at the Glass Castle,
something more comes out of her relationship with the prince. You
are led through the heart break of what Celaena had to encounter in the
mines, and her courage to fight
and never run, while she makes friends she can trust and relationships
never to be broken. Amazing from start to finish I rate this book 5
stars and recommend to anyone looking for an kick butt heroine.

In a land without magic, where the king rules with an iron hand, an assassin is summoned to the castle. She comes not to kill the king, but to win her freedom. If she defeats twenty-three killers, thieves, and warriors in a competition, she is released from prison to serve as the king's champion. Her name is Celaena Sardothien.

The Crown Prince will provoke her. The Captain of the Guard will protect her. But something evil dwells in the castle of glass--and it's there to kill. When her competitors start dying one by one, Celaena's fight for freedom becomes a fight for survival, and a desperate quest to root out the evil before it destroys her world.

“Readers seeking the political intrigue of Kristen Cashore's Graceling and its sequels or the deadly competition at the heart of The Hunger Games will find both in Maas's strong debut novel. . . . The verve and freshness of the narration make for a thrilling read.” —Publishers Weekly, starred review

“A teenage assassin, a rebel princess, menacing gargoyles, supernatural portals and a glass castle prove to be as thrilling as they sound. . . . Celaena is still just a teenager trying to forge her way, giving the story timelessness. This commingling of comedy, brutality and fantasy evokes a rich alternate universe with a spitfire young woman as its brightest star.” —Kirkus Reviews

Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas is a tale full of surprises and shadows, where deadly seeds are sown with the promise of more danger to come. A fascinating glimpse into the dark side of Cinderella.” —Colleen Houck, the NYT Bestselling author of the Tiger's Curse series
