Part human, part robot, and 100% snark; Murderbot is the antihero you have been waiting for. Ever since they sustained damage to their governance module, they (YES, I’m using pronouns here… It’s a robot, it doesn’t even have sex organs so get over it) have been infused with an extra dose of self will. Muderbot has had a difficult existence, as its sole purpose has been keeping the (stupid) humans alive during their various expeditions. The (stupid) humans are awfully good at getting themselves cut, shot, crushed, and or eaten, and Murderbot has had just about enough of all of it. Up until recently, they didn’t believe they had any other choice than to help the (stupid) humans, but ever since they sustained damage during a tragic incident on a mining complex, they suddenly have the ability to govern their own actions. They're starting to wonder if there might be more to existence than saving the (stupid) humans - who never listen to warnings in the first place. The truth is, Murderbot really just wants to Netflix & chill.
Welcome to the Pringles of scifi books; you can’t read just one. And, if you are late to the game like me, you are in luck, because at the time of this writing, there are 6 books in the series! A hilarious, exciting, and touching journey through the universe, Wells shows that even for robots, the most important discoveries are self discoveries.
