Ever since starting the Court of Thorns and Roses series I feel like I’ve been on the hunt to fill the Rhys-shaped hole in my heart. I know many many people feel the same. Well, search no further, this is the book to save us all! I randomly stumbled across the book at the store and picked it up on my vacation. Boy, oh, boy, am I glad I did! This is the love story of the Greek Gods, Persephone and Hades, and it takes the myths we know and spins them into a page-turning romance where The Fates have destined for Persephone to be the Queen of the Underworld. The problem is that Persephone’s mother, Demeter is the one The Fates foretold this to, and she, needless to say, wasn’t too happy with this news. To try and trick fate, she has been keeping Persephone hidden from the Gods and the world in general. When she turns 18, her mother relents and lets her attend the University at New Athens with two stipulations: she must never reveal that she is a Goddess and she must not fall in love -ESPECIALLY with a God and ESPECIALLY not Hades. On one FATEfull night’s visit to a nightclub owned by Hades himself, Persephone unknowingly makes a deal with the God of the Underworld. Now she has six months to create life in the Underworld, and if she fails she must remain in the Underworld for the rest of time. The catch is, Persephone doesn’t have any magic. Unlike her Goddess mother, everything she touches dies. I devoured this book in one day and am counting down the seconds because ... good news!... there is not one but two more in the series! I highly recommend this to any Sarah J. Maas fans.

Persephone is the Goddess of Spring by title only. The truth is, since she was a little girl, flowers have shriveled at her touch. After moving to New Athens, she hopes to lead an unassuming life disguised as a mortal journalist. Hades, God of the Dead, has built a gambling empire in the mortal world and his favorite bets are rumored to be impossible. After a chance encounter with Hades, Persephone finds herself in a contract with the God of the Dead and the terms are impossible: Persephone must create life in the Underworld or lose her freedom forever. The bet does more than expose Persephone's failure as a goddess, however. As she struggles to sow the seeds of her freedom, love for the God of the Dead grows-and it's forbidden.
