This is perhaps my favorite book of all time simply because of the level of impact it has made on my life. It’s no surprise to me that millions of copies have been sold worldwide (translated to 71 languages), was at one point an international bestseller, and has inspired generations of people.

Paulo Coelho’s masterpiece centers around a young shepherd boy by the name of Santiago. “The boy”, as he is often called throughout the book, has recurring dreams of visiting the pyramids of Egypt and finding treasure there. He ignores these dreams, deciding to instead focus on his sheep and winning the heart of a local merchant’s daughter, until a gypsy woman tells him that this is a message from the universe and that he should heed this omen. He sells his sheep, heads to Tangier in northern Africa, beginning his quest for worldly treasures.

Santiago’s journey takes him far and wide, leading him to riches of a different kind. Along the way, he meets many interesting people that each teach him different life lessons, such as a crystal merchant that is content with the cards life has dealt him, a seemingly homeless man that is a king in disguise, an Englishman hoping to learn how to turn metals into gold from the famous Alchemist in the oasis of the desert, and the Alchemist himself.

Even though it is a fiction, it almost reads as an inspirational self-help book, similar to ‘The Celestine Prophecy’. I loved this book for all its important messages it has taught me, and there is a reason I give this book as a gift as often as I can to the people I love. And now, after 25 years of being on the market, they offer this story as a graphic novel!

A special 25th anniversary edition of the extraordinary international bestseller, including a new Foreword by Paulo Coelho.

Combining magic, mysticism, wisdom and wonder into an inspiring tale of self-discovery, The Alchemist has become a modern classic, selling millions of copies around the world and transforming the lives of countless readers across generations.

Paulo Coelho's masterpiece tells the mystical story of Santiago, an Andalusian shepherd boy who yearns to travel in search of a worldly treasure. His quest will lead him to riches far different—and far more satisfying—than he ever imagined. Santiago's journey teaches us about the essential wisdom of listening to our hearts, of recognizing opportunity and learning to read the omens strewn along life's path, and, most importantly, to follow our dreams.

One of the most influential writers of our time, Paulo Coelho is the author of thirty international bestsellers, including The Alchemist, Warrior of the Light, Brida, Veronika Decides to Die, and Eleven Minutes. He is a member of the Brazilian Academy of Letters and a United Nations Messenger of Peace. Paulo is the recipient of 115 international prizes and awards, among them, the Chevalier de l'Ordre National de la Légion d'Honneur (Legion of Honor). Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1947, he soon discovered his vocation for writing. He worked as a director, theater actor, songwriter, and journalist. In 1986, a special meeting led him to make the pilgrimage to Saint James Compostela (in Spain). The Road to Santiago was not only a common pilgrimage but a turning point in his existence. A year later, he wrote The Pilgrimage, an autobiographical novel that is considered the beginning of his literary career. He lives in Geneva, Switzerland.
