Gloria Whelan is the author of short stories, which have appeared in The Ontario Review, The Virginia Quarterly, The Gettysburg Review, The Michigan Quarterly,  The Missouri Review and other literary quarterlies. Her collection of short stories, "Playing with Shadows," was published by the Illinois Press. She has had numerous Pushcart Prize nominations and her stories have appeared in several anthologies including "Prize Stories, The O. Henry Awards." She received a National Book Award for her young adult novel, "Homeless Bird."
