Events A primary goal at McLean & Eakin (from Preschool Days to The Birthday Club to our 10% For Schools Program) is to instill a love of books and reading in all our young customers. Through our many programs, special events, author visits, welcoming atmosphere and exceptional book selection, we strive to bring kids and books together for a lifetime.
Marguerite Mooradian, a new member of McLean & Eakin's summer staff and a recent graduate of Interlochen Arts Academy, is putting her creative powers to use Tuesdays from 10:30 to 11:30am, all summer long. Marguerite is hosting Art Extravaganza Days for kids ages 7 to 11. Space is limited, so do call ahead to sign up.

Preschool Days
Preschool Days are always a very lively time at the store, hosted by Susan Capaldi. They include one hour of great books, games, crafts and snacks for any child ages three to six, accompanied by an adult.
The program is from 10:00-11:00 a.m., on particular Thursdays (see dates below). Each meeting is a different theme. Reservations are required. There is no charge, but space is limited to the first 20, so call for a spot. (At present, the Summer 2008 program is waiting list only.)

Birthday Club
We ask you, who doesn't like birthdays? And birthday sweets? And things that hang from the ceiling? And presents? We certainly do. And we think that you probably do too.
That's why McLean & Eakin wants to help celebrate your birthday with the Kids' Birthday Club! The club is open to any youngsters age 0 to 15, who will receive a $3.00 certificate during the month of your birthday. You may then bring it into the store anytime, and put it towards the purchase of a new book, cd, finger puppet, hairclip, magazine, or anything else to which you'd like to treat yourself.
To sign up, simply follow the link below, fill out name, mailing address (for your birthday card), phone number and email address. In the comments box, please type in "Birthday Club," the child's name (if different from above), and the day, month and year of birth.
Kids' Book ClubThe Kids' Book Club has concluded its 2007/2008 season with a bang! We've loved having you young and voracious readers in the store those many Tuesday nights. Don't forget to stop in over the summer and let us know which books you're loving and not-so-loving. Or, just stop in to say hi -- we simply can't wait until September to get started again!
