Saturday, May 17th from 1:00-3:00pm
To all you ballerinas, donners of tutus and pointe shoes, patrons of dance, and women with large, floppy feet...
Amy Young, the delightful creator of everyone's favorite ballerina, will be signing copies of and reading from her latest picture book, Belinda Begins Ballet.
In addition, two local ballerinas will be giving a tutu-torial, including the five feet and arm positions, and some basic ballet-speak. (And we thought that the Fancy Nancy party was the end of rooms full of pink...)
All children must be accompanied by an adult, and reservations are required, so sign up today, and click here for more details about the event, as well as a list of all of the Belinda books.

In case you missed this past Weekender Edition of the Petoskey News Review, let me take just a moment to inform you that McLean & Eakin's very own Leighanne Law was featured in an interview about Little Traverse Civic Theatre's upcoming production of Blithe Spirit. Leighanne has undertaken the role of Ruth Condomine in Noel Coward's comedy, and has even shared with her coworkers, an array of English accents. For more information about the play, show dates and times, and the Little Traverse Civic Theatre, click here.
Also, Marion Bright will be teaching summer creative writing classes through The Crooked Tree Arts Center. There will be one class for adults and one for young adults (grades 9 to 12). In addition to gracing us with her presence at McLean & Eakin, Marion received her M.F.A. from the Iowa Writers' Workshop. She has taught creative writing at the University of Iowa and at the Iowa Young Writers' Studio. She completed the UCLA Professional Program in Screenwriting and received fellowship from the Breadloaf Writers' Conference.
We're thrilled to see that American Spoon Cafe has opened their doors for the season, because who hasn't been craving gelato of late?
Take a moment, wander in, and appreciate the fresh interior makeover and tempting menu additions . . . a breakfast scramble with "sweet potato polenta and turkey cherry sausage" . . . need we say more? (But don't fret, the tomato bisque still remains!)
